About the Role
We are seeking experienced Powerline Technicians (PLT) to join our growing team in the Kootenay Region. Working across energized transmission and distribution systems at voltages ranging from 12kV to 230kV, successful candidates will play a key role in keeping BC's electrical infrastructure safe, reliable, and resilient. The scope of work encompasses both overhead and underground systems, with responsibilities scaled to each technician's experience and demonstrated field capability.
Key Responsibilities
Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical power transmission and distribution systems.
Erect and maintain steel, wood, and concrete poles, towers, and associated guy wire systems.
Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines, cables, insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers, and lighting systems.
Splice and terminate conductors and related wiring to interconnect power transmission and distribution networks.
Execute stringing operations for both distribution and transmission circuits as required.
Operate a wide range of vehicles and equipment including articulated bucket trucks, digger derricks, mobile cranes, and trenchers, as well as hand, power, electrical testing, and hot-line tools.
Travel to project sites across the region, including remote locations accessible by ATV, helicopter, aircraft, or watercraft.
Perform physically demanding work including climbing poles and towers, lifting heavy materials, pulling cables, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
Work independently with minimal supervision and, where applicable, provide direction and oversight to junior team members.
Maintain compliance with all applicable codes, standards, safe work methods, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
Interpret and work from technical drawings, notes, forms, code books, and standard operating procedures.
Respond to service emergencies as required, including work in adverse weather conditions outside of standard hours.
Qualifications & Requirements
Red Seal Journeyman Powerline Technician Trade Certification (required).
Minimum Class 3 Driver's Licence with Air Brakes endorsement.
Demonstrated experience working on energized systems from 25kV up to 230kV.
Strong mechanical aptitude and thorough working knowledge of electricity, power transmission and distribution principles, and communication systems.
Excellent physical fitness, with the ability to climb, lift, balance, and sustain the demands of field work in variable conditions.
Strong visual acuity and hearing sufficient to identify hazards and communicate safely on-site.
Ability to read and apply a broad range of regulatory standards, safe work procedures, and engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities
Manage traffic flow and worksite safety on power line construction and maintenance projects throughout BC.
Work alongside Maple Leaf Power crews on transmission, distribution, and emergency restoration projects.
Ensure compliance with site-specific traffic management plans and WorkSafeBC regulations.
Coordinate with supervisors and stakeholders including engineers, municipalities, and law enforcement.
Qualifications & Requirements
Valid BCCSA Traffic Control Person certification.
Experience in traffic control on construction or utility projects.
Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused with strong communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends when required.
