Aerial inspection services for transmission and distribution infrastructure

Maple Leaf Power Corporation, in partnership with Clareza Aero, provides aerial inspection and assessment services for electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure. These services combine Transport Canada certified drone piloting and Level I thermographic personnel, delivering a documented and repeatable method of assessing line and corridor condition, without requiring personnel at height or on energized equipment. Compared to traditional inspection methods such as helicopter patrol or ground-based right-of-way access clearing, drone assessment requires less mobilization time, lower equipment cost, and can be deployed on shorter notice, supporting more frequent assessment cycles and earlier identification of developing issues.

CAPABILITIES

Visiual System Inspection

High-resolution visual inspection of transmission and distribution structures, hardware, insulators, and conductors, conducted from a safe distance. Identifies visible defects, hardware corrosion, cracked or damaged insulators, broken conductor strands, and structural deterioration — without climbing, bucket truck access, or de-energization.

CAPABILITIES

Vegetation Management & Wildfire Risk

Visual aerial assessment and photogrammetric 3D surface modelling of vegetation condition and proximity along right-of-way corridors. Identifies encroachment risk, growth patterns, and areas warranting high-risk vegetation prioritization.

CAPABILITIES

Thermal Imaging

Radiometric thermal inspection of components conducted by Level I certified thermographic personnel (ASNT SNT-TC-1A), performing qualitative thermal anomaly detection associated with issues , thermal deltas, phase-to-phase imbalances, and overheating connections, not visible under visual inspection alone.

CAPABILITIES

Storm & Outage Assessment

Quick-deploy drone flights provide real-time situational awareness of downed poles and lines before ground crews arrive a rapid, low-risk method of scoping damage and prioritizing dispatch immediately following a storm event.
